Hi! My name is Esther, welcome to my portfolio!
I am an Italian visual designer based in Rotterdam, NL, where I study animation at the Willem de Kooning Academy.
As a visual designer, I specialise in background art, character design, concept art and illustration. I am also very passionate about stop motion animation and working with analog mixed media.

Artist Statement

The focus of my works is self-discovery and diving into the depths of oneself; Figuring out who I am as an artist goes hand in hand with figuring out who I am as a person; art is a form of catharsis. For this reason, my style and the themes I address are ever changing in my works. I do that through puppets, digital and analogue 2D creations.

I am both an illustrator and an animator: through illustration I get to add a lot of details and intricacies that I use to translate meaning in my artworks, and animation gives me the possibility to add another layer of creativity, which is movement.

I like to explore the world within, in a surrealist art form, reminiscent of alchemical art, with dream-like atmospheres, with a hint of humour. I am a visual thinker who tells stories about the introspection of emotions and feelings. I want other people to observe my works through their own eyes and experience them, make them their own, find their own meaning.
